Dear Prime Minister,
Climate change – EDM 178
I am sure you are seized of the need to take urgent and dramatic action to mitigate the effects of climate change which are very seriously damaging the planet at an ever-increasing rate. This is now a question of damage limitation rather than damage avoidance and I know that you are well aware of this.
I urge you to include the essence of EDM 178, proposed by Michael Meacher, in the Queen’s Speech this year, and I would be obliged if you could let me know if that is possible. I know you will receive many requests from like-minded MPs of all parties regarding this matter.
I should tell you that there is massive support in South Essex for this Early Day Motion, and I am aware that literally hundreds of cards have been returned to South Essex MPs from their constituents, demanding that they take exactly this action. I have not received any such cards as I was one of the first signatories of the Early Day Motion and therefore Friends of the Earth and other organisations have not targeted me, I make this request because it is right and necessary to save our planet.
Yours ever,
Bob Spink MP
