  1. Housekeeping:
    • Apologies for absence:

    • Present:
       Denis Walker (DW), Peter Walker (PW), Michael Downer (MD), & Jon Fuller (JF).
    • Minutes of last meeting:
      Agreed
    • Next meeting:
      9th November, 7:30pm
  2. Motions:
    DW provided a report on the motions to conference.
  3. Campaign Updates:
    • Food Chain:
      DW informed the meeting of intention of FoE HQ to proceed with the public meeting in November and of the failure of James Duddridge MP to provide a meaningful response to the invitation to attend the meeting.
    • Get Serious:
      DW provided an update on the campaign.
    • Urgent appeal for funding:
      DW screened a video appeal from FoE HQ to seek funds for campaigns.
    • Marinet:
      DW provided a report on developments.
    • Youth & Education:
      The Y&E part of FoE work was being separated from core work. This was due to the tight financial picture but funding had been obtained from another source and DW had provided a good deal of assistance with IT and publicity related issues.
    • Wonder of Wind:
      DW provided a report on the leafletting and other work undertaken in support of the wind farms by himself and MD.
    • SAEN:
      DW reported on fund raising efforts in support of the campaign and progress towards the pursuit of 2 judicial reviews of the council’s decision to permit expansion of the airport.  He noted work to oppose the diversion of Eatwoodbury lane, the planning objection process and informed the meeting that the council was to hold an emergency meeting on 4 November to discuss this aspect of the scheme.   Group members were urged to attend the council meeting in support of the SAEN campaign.
    • Speeding:
      JF reported on his work to tackle the government on its plans to slash funding for the speed camera network.
    • Cycle Forum:
      DW reported that he had now informed the council that FoE would have to withdraw from the forum due to the failure to consult and act upon any of the issues identified.
