  1. Housekeeping:
    • Apologies for absence:

      Present:
      Denis Walker (DW), Peter Walker (PW), Michael Woollcott (MWo) & Jon Fuller (JF).
    • Minutes of last meeting:
      Agreed.
    • Next meeting:
      1st March, 7:30pm – Agreed.
    • Subscriptions:
      Members were reminded to pay the £10 annual subscription.
  2. Campaigning Options:
    The group considered the options for the first 6 months of the year and agreed it was stretched with work on SAEN and the wind farm. The group agreed to add work on the forthcoming Energy Bill to its list of activities and so DW will order the relevant materials from FoE HQ.
  3. Campaign Updates:
    • SAEN:
      DW informed the meeting that the individual who was seeking a Judicial Review against expansion was scheduled to attend the High Court on 22 February for an appeal hearing. It was agreed that a delegation should attend in support and learn more from the appeal process.
    • Marinet:
      MWo intends to read the material on overfishing and will visit Leigh fishermen and report back on what transpires.
    • We Want a Wind Farm:
      DW has written to the planning inspectorate in favour of the wind farm and intends to attend the planning appeal hearing in Maldon on 8 March.
    • Essex Flood Forum:
      DW reported that he would be undertaking some work with Brian Efde of the Essex Flood Forum. He would be going to Parliament on 8 February to lobby on behalf of those who can no longer get insurance against flooding on their homes.
  4. Open Gardens event – planning:
    This would be deferred to the next meeting when MWi should be present.

    • Public venue for forthcoming group meeting:
      The group considered holding a future group meeting at a public venue in order to attract new members. Consideration was given to the “Eco-Hub” in St John’s Road and the Growing Together Building in Fairfax Drive. It was agreed that further thought would be given to this at the next meeting.
