  1. Housekeeping:
    • Apologies for absence:

    • Minutes of last meeting:
      Agreed
    • Next meeting:
      4th April 2011, 7:30pm
    • Subscriptions:
      DW reminded everyone that subscriptions of £10 for 2011 are due.
    • Partnership Agreement:
      At this time of year, we’re normally asked to renew the agreement. However, this is being changed and will be done in the Autumn instead.
  2. Campaign Updates:
    • FoE East of England training:
      A 2011 training programme for LGs is being developed. No members expressed any interest in taking part.
    • SAEN:
      • SAEN Member’s JR refused permission
      • Other JR oral hearing date set; postponed until 12 May
      • Public Inquiry into Stopping Up of Eastwoodbury Lane has been announced
      • Campaign is now in its strongest ever position
    • Marinet:
      • CFP Reform campaign is being developed
      • Contacts being made within Europe
      • Attempting to join forces with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
      • Marine Reserves campaign officially finished, but continue to monitor for opportunities
      • MWo has not yet made contact with Leigh Fishermen but will do so 
    • We Want a Wind Farm:
      • DW had response from Planning Inspectorate
        • Returned letter as after deadline
        • Can still speak if apply to inspector at start of appeal
      • Appeal set to start on 8th March
      • Ridgewind happy to cover travel expenses to the appeal (in Maldon). JF will drive.
    • Zeitgeist: Moving Forward:
      • Excellent film (which can be viewed on YouTube)  examining the flaws in society
      • The meeting agreed that the group should organise a screening for the public
        • DW stated that he had already contacted the team that organised “What a Way to Go”
      • The film is long – 2 hours 40 mins running time
    • Energy:
      The group considered whether to do any of the national FoE energy campaigning. MWo agreed to look at the possibility of running a meeting in Leigh but, if this is not possible, the group would be unable to do any more due to the pressures associated with the airport campaign.
    • TUC Anti-cuts March:
      DW informed people of the forthcoming march on 26th March (11am – Victoria Embankment to Hyde Park). UNISON funded coaches have been laid on from Victoria Circus.  DW asked if anyone wanted to go but there were no volunteers.
    • Yes to Fairer Votes:
      JF updated the group on the Yes to Fairer Votes campaign, noting the significance for environmental campaigning.
  3. Open Garden event – planning:
    MWi proposed an Open Gardens event in the Autumn, to raise funds for SEEFoE. The group discussed the options and settled on a provisional date of 24 September – 2pm to 5pm. This will be held at Castledon Road, Downham. An entry charge of £10 was agreed.
